Frisco, TX -- (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars signed free agent defenseman Karlis Skrastins to a two-year contract on Thursday.

The 34-year-old is slated to make $2.75 million on the deal, earning $1.1 million next season.

Skrastins posted four goals and 18 points in 80 games for the Florida Panthers last season, his first full season with the club.

Primarily a stopper on the backline, the native of Latvia has collected 27 goals and 115 points in 679 pro games with Nashville (1998-03), Colorado (2003-08) and Florida (2007-09).
