Leafs Ink First-Round Pick Kadri

(Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs signed 2009 first-round pick forward Nazem Kadri to a three-year entry level contract on Monday.

Financial details surrounding the deal were not released.

The Leafs selected the London, Ontario native seventh overall on June 26. Kadri ranked ninth in the Ontario Hockey League this past season with 53 assists and 15th in points with 78. He went on to add 21 points (9G, 12A) in 14 playoff games.

The 18-year-old was instrumental in leading the Kitchener Rangers to the OHL championship one year prior, collecting nine goals and 17 assists in the 2008 playoffs.

Rich Peverley notched the winner in the shootout and Slava Kozlov added insurance as Atlanta rallied from a two-goal deficit to down St. Louis, 3-2, at Philips Arena. Peverley began the shootout with a successful wrister then Andy McDonald of the Blues failed in his chance. Kozlov added another score before Brad Boyes' had the puck poke- checked away by Johan Hedberg. Boyes argued that his rebound, which was lifted into the net, counted as a shot but the closest official immediately waved off the goal. Tobias Enstrom and Ron Hainsey tallied in regulation for the Thrashers, who snapped a two-game slide. Hedberg made 30 saves. McDonald and David Perron scored for the Blues, who have dropped a season-high five straight games. Ty Conklin took the loss despite stopping 38 shots.
