Jennifer Herron

Jennifer Herron has worn many hats in her broadcasting career since graduating with a broadcast journalism degree from Southwest Texas State University (alma mater of President Lyndon B. Johnson and country music singer George Strait).

While in college, Jennifer worked at both the NBC and CBS television affiliates in San Antonio, Texas. Jennifer was also heard anchoring news at KTSA radio.

In her spare time, she used her skills from her college minor, social work, and worked at a local nursing home helping to communicate patients’ needs to nurses and organizing activities with directors.

Jennifer’s love of country music then drew her to become a disc jockey at KCYY/KKYX. It was while she was working there that she met her husband who is a country music singer and songwriter.

When he followed his dream to move to Nashville, Jennifer decided to leave the only big city she had ever known.

Soon after the move, Jennifer was heard all over the world on the radio home of the Grand Ole Opry, WSM.

"I was so privileged to reach out to so many people. I made many friends from Tennessee to Ireland and beyond."

Jennifer also anchored newscasts for sister stations 99.7 WWTN and 95.5 WSM-FM while hosting on WSM. She can still be heard Saturday nights after the The Grand Ole Opry on WSM announcing the second-longest running radio show, “The Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree.”

As a fan of Channel 4 and Snowbird, Jennifer said it was a perfect fit to join the WSMV family.

"The first thing I learned about Nashville is that with the fast-growing population, traffic is a huge concern. I have always loved to help people and that is my main objective in gathering and passing along information."

Outside of work, Jennifer stays close to her family and friends by calling south Texas daily for the latest news.

Jennifer enjoys listening to her husband sing but loves it even more when he is not on the bandstand, but dancing with her.

Their cocker spaniel, Holly is their pride and joy.

Gardening, swimming and horseback riding would all be included in Jennifer’s "perfect day."
