An influential Nashville attorney and famous musician is answering to charges of domestic violence.

Fiddler and lawyer Blaine Sprouse is accused of beating his fourth wife inside their home last month.

Police found Sprouse’s wife, Marci, crying with a knot over her eye along with bite marks and bruises all over her body.

She too plays the fiddle and claims Blaine Sprouse also broke the 4th finger of her left hand so that she would never play again.

According to a police affidavit, Marci called police on Aug. 2, and authorities found her at a local gas station crying and injured.

She told authorities that her husband had taken her cell phone from her and knocked her unconscious. She said that when she woke up, he tried to attack her again so she hit him with a flashlight and ran away.

Police took the woman to a local hospital for treatment as officers went to the Sprouse home.

Officers said when they arrived they had to coax Sprouse out of his bedroom. When he came out, he was bleeding with a gash on his forehead with scratches on his arms and chest.

Blaine Sprouse told police that he took his wife’s cell phone because she threatened to call police and admitted that he was wrestling with her.

Blaine Sprouse has been charged with aggravated assault.

He has already been convicted of domestic assault against his fourth wife in 2004. He has other convictions, but the DA said he could not address those at this time.

During Thursday's court proceedings, the case was bound over to a grand jury.

Blaine Sprouse currently serves as the assistant administrator for workers compensation division for the state of Tennessee. He is also a Grand Ole Opry performer who toured and recording from 1974 to 1994.

At least 2 of the 4 women who were married to him in the past said he was physically and mentally abusive.

One of Sprouse's wives told Channel 4 on Thursday that she wished she had spoken up about him before he married another woman.

She said in addition to the abuse, he spent $200,000 of her money in just two years and left her bankrupt.

Blaine Sprouse's Web site boasts appearances with everyone from Bluegrass founder Bill Monroe to country music group Alabama.
