Perry March has had his sins washed away. He has abandoned his Jewish faith and converted to Christianity.SPECIAL SECTION: March Murder TrialMarch was baptized in his Metro Jail Cell last Friday, just three days before he went on trial on a charge of murdering his wife, Janet, 10 years ago.A Metro Sheriff's spokeswoman confirmed the baptism of the 45-year-old father of three children was performed by a non-denominational jail chaplain, Susan Gray.
Karla Crocker said March was "sprinkled" during the baptism at his request. The ceremony into admittance into a Christian Church can be with the use of water by immersion, pouring or sprinkling and with the recital of a form of words.LIVE STREAM: MARCH MURDER TRIALIt is considered as a spiritual ritual of purification. In the past month, jail records indicate, March has had three clergy visits by Billy Finto, Thomas Sutton and the Rev. Don Finto, one-time senior pastor of Music Row's Belmont Church. The Rev. Mr. Finto now is founder and director of the Caleb Company, a ministry. He did not return a phone call by Channel 4 to his office.News reports in 1997 show the Rev. Mr. Finto was involved in quite a fiasco with a local Rabbi over the differences between Christians and Jews and the dangers of conversion attempts. The remainder of Perry March's family, including his father, Arthur, sister, brother and two of his children are members of the Jewish Faith.Perry and his wife, Janet, were married here in a synagogue where they belonged to the congregation. But it’s unclear what religion or church Perry might have attended while he lived in Ajijic, Mexico, since there is only an informal Jewish group and no synagogue. It’s also unclear why Perry decided to leave the Jewish faith. One person suggested that Perry might have thought his Jewish friends and his religion have deserted him over the disappearance of his wife 10 years ago and the subsequent murder and other charges against him.But as of now, it appears that only Perry March knows for sure.
