A family still grieving the loss of their child is questioning the reliability of Dr. Bruce Levy, the medical examiner under investigation for receiving a package of marijuana.

Several family members of 11-year-old Lakeisha White, who was hit and killed when she crossed a Murfreesboro street in July 2008, arrived at Murfreesboro police headquarters Friday morning for a private meeting with Police Chief Glenn Chrisman. Lakeisha's family has been critical of many aspects of the investigation into her death.

"We asked him to look into criminal charges against the police officers that were involved in the Ron Killings case," said family member Rose Collier.

The family wasn't satisfied with the disciplinary actions taken against two former fatal accident crash team investigators who they said mishandled the investigation.

Collier said she was pleased with outcome of the meeting.

"Mr. Chrisman was very cooperative, and he said he will look into all of the situations. He was very nice to us. He was very receptive," said Collier. "He gave an apology to the family and that he was very, very sorry for what has happened in the situation."

But other family members left the meeting early, not satisfied at all.

"I disagree with what he was saying," said Kim Coleman, another family member. "I didn't agree with him at all."

The family also questioned why medical examiner Levy was a no-show for Killings' reckless homicide trial.

"He was subpoenaed to come to court and didn't show up," said Coleman. "If anyone was subpoenaed (and didn't show up), wouldn't you have got locked up?"

Levy was arrested in Mississippi on drug charges earlier this week.

"And now he was charged with marijuana. Was he high on drugs when he was doing the autopsy, the reason why he didn't show?" said Coleman.

Killings was acquitted in Lakeisha's death.

Special prosecutor Joe Baugh said not only is it unusual for a witness not to show up to testify, but he questioned it himself. He said someone in Levy's office assured him Levy would be there to testify, but Levy later claimed he had a scheduling conflict.
