CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Clarksville's William Copeland is a country music fan from the top of his hat to the tip of his boots. But Copeland and many other true-blue Brooks & Dunn fans are seeing red.
The powerhouse country music singing duo Brooks & Dunn recently announced they'd be calling it quits after 20 years. Tickets for the Last Rodeo concert tour went on sale Wednesday morning for fan club members.Copeland said he paid $41 to become a member, but when he logged on to Ticketmaster, he couldn't get a ticket. He said the ones that were available were overpriced. Then, he said, he was redirected to another site, where the tickets were as high as $1,000 or more for general admission.Other outraged fans posted complaints about similar problems on the Brooks & Dunn fan club site."The only thing us fans want to do is go to concerts," said Copeland.Brooks & Dunn's manager, Clarence Spalding, said he's been told by Ticketmaster that what Copeland and other fans said they're experiencing is impossible. Spalding said when Wednesday's 1,000 pre-sale tickets for fan club members were sold out, that was it. No other tickets are available until they go on sale Saturday to the general public.Spalding said he's looking for an explanation for the problems fans said they experienced. As for Copeland, he said he's done and he'll be satisfied with buying a Brooks & Dunn DVD and enjoying it from the comfort of his living room.Ticketmaster contends it doesn't refer its site visitors to ticket broker Web sites.Money from the Last Rodeo tour will benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame.
