FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- There are more troubles for the paint company that admitted to spilling chemicals into the Harpeth River in Franklin.Egyptian Lacquer may face a penalty of more than $11,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency for failing to let local authorities know what sorts of chemicals it has in its building.By law, the company should be filing federal documents, listing the quantities of 28 hazardous chemicals it stores at its plant. Toluene, one of the chemicals not listed, was leaked into the Harpeth River in Franklin, causing controversy and lawsuits.Lasko Products, a company that makes fans, was also fined for not reporting its chemicals. It, too, faces a potential fine of more than $11,000.This information is important for emergency responders so that if something were to happen at the plant, authorities would know what they're dealing with.A lawyer for the company said it has since filed the paperwork to help reduce the fine.
