NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Four men and one woman are accused in an alleged gift card scam uncovered at the Nashville International Airport.

According to Metro police, Transportation Security Administration screeners notified the Secret Service after noticing hundreds of magnetic striped cards in a suitcase Wednesday night. Nashville Police Department fraud detectives were called to assist.

During a joint investigation, authorities learned the group flew into Nashville on Tuesday from California. Police said the group used stolen credit information to buy gift cards from area Wal-Mart stores. They were trying to fly back to California when TSA agents stopped them.

The group is suspected in similar crimes in other cities across the country.

The five arrested include Sylvester Knight, 42, of San Ramon, Calif.; David Lyles, 35, of San Leandro, Calif.; Aisha Garrison, 29, James Edward Johnson, 24, and Devin Leverett Sr., 34, all of Oakland, Calif. They are charged with conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of a credit card and conspiracy to commit identity theft.

Police said a fifth man ran from the airport. Investigators are working to identify and find him.
