A Fort Campbell soldier accused of assaulting a taxi cab driver Nov. 22 was captured Tuesday morning in Florida.

Gregg Walter Johnston, 18, was taken into custody at 11:45 a.m. in the central Florida town of Dade City, located in Pasco County.

Clarksville police said he is being held, pending extradition.

Police said Johnston made a female taxi cab driver drive from Clarksville to Nashville at gunpoint, where he allegedly assaulted her. The soldier then allegedly forced the woman to drive him to Oak Grove, Ky., where he got out at a Walmart and ran away.

A aggravated kidnapping warrant was issued Nov. 24 for Johnston.
