CoverKids Freezes Enrollment

Program Runs Out of Money

UPDATED: 12:52 pm CST November 30, 2009

Tennessee's health insurance program for children, CoverKids, stops new enrollments Monday.

CoverKids, which provides health care for about 44,000 children statewide, is freezing enrollment because the plan doesn't have enough money to insure any more children.

The cap won't affect any children enrolled before the end of last week.

Those who still need coverage may be able to get it through TennCare or the Department of Health.
