The shuttle, carrying seven astronauts, landed smoothly Friday morning at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Mission Control described the landing conditions as "absolutely stellar" and the landing itself as "picture perfect."

During its 11-day mission, Atlantis spent one week docked with the International Space Station to deliver spare parts and supplies.

Among the astronauts returning is Barry Wilmore, a Mount Juliet native. Wilmore graduated from Mount Juliet High School in 1981 and attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.
