Just after 9 a.m. Monday, the state's official holiday tree was placed in front of the state Capitol. This year's tree is a 50-foot spruce that came from a home at Harding Place and Franklin Road in Oak Hill.

Crews lifted the huge tree from Charlotte Street to the landing below the Capitol. Decorating began once the tree was in place.

The official lighting ceremony is Nov. 30. A ceremony will take place from 4-5 p.m. Gov. Phil Bredesen and First Lady Conte will light the tree at 5 p.m. and be joined by the Music City Community Choir.
