MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- A woman who left her baby in a hot car this summer has been charged.
The Rutherford County Grand Jury has indicted Joann Bell on charges of aggravated child endangerment.Authorities believe 5-month-old Joy Bell was in an SUV outside the family's home for at least an hour July 15. That day, the heat index hit 100 degrees.Bell told police she thought her other daughter had brought the baby into the house."If you're running into the gas station or whatever, take your child with you," said Murfreesboro police Officer Kyle Evans. "Don't ever leave them in the car alone."Joy, who is now 9 months old, suffered brain damage from the exposure to the heat.
