CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A Clarksville man's organization helped police recover several of his stolen guns.Police recovered 11 of the 35 guns stolen from one Clarksville home in October. Officers arrested 18-year-old Charles Barnes and a juvenile in connection with the crime.Police said the rightful owner of the guns keeps an organized filing system with serial numbers for each of the gun he owns, and it's thanks to that system that officers were able to catch the crooks and return the guns to where they belong. This case has police encouraging others to do the same. They said it doesn't just apply to guns; serial numbers can be recorded for electronics, too."We have TVs stolen, we have items taken all the time that people don't have serial numbers so we may locate that item but since we know what the serial number is we can't give it back to that person," said Officer Jim Knoll of the Clarksville Police Department.Police are still looking for the rest of the stolen firearms and said they plan to make more arrests.
