MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Feed America First has a fleet of four trucks, a handful of full-time workers and a number of volunteers. With cash donations down almost 20 percent, there won't be enough money to pay for the gas and the required insurance.
"We've seen regular donors fall off, people going through their own problems," said Executive Director Tom Henry. "The net result is we now are $20,000 behind our $180,000 budget."The agency distributes food to ministries and charities in 42 counties in Tennessee. Henry is concerned."The food is there for them, but if we can't get there because we can't keep the trucks on the road, there's a lot of people who now are expecting help that aren't going to get help from us," Henry said. The public can donate to Feed America Firstby calling 615-512-5915 or visiting its Web site.
