NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Metro Council member wants to put property acquisition on hold for the new convention center until after the council votes to approve the project in January. Mike Jameson says property owners are being forced out by an 800-pound gorilla --- Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency -- that, he said, is not treating people fairly.
The proposal is supported by Councilman Eric Crafton."We're sitting here in Nashville, Tenn., United States of America ... We're forcing people out of business, and you're laughing," said Crafton to Metro Finance Director Rich Riebling.Jameson's proposal will be heard in two weeks, but that may be too late, since MDHA goes to court with several property owners Nov. 23.
