Clarksville has a new memorial to men and women in the military.

People gathered Monday morning to unveil the new addition at the Montgomery County Courthouse: a Blue Star Memorial.

Three garden clubs in Clarksville raised money to build the marker. It honors all men and women who have served, are serving or who plan to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The Blue Star Memorial program began in 1945 to honor service men and women serving during World War II. Today, there are more than 2,000 Blue Star Memorials installed throughout the country.
