NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Metro police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian in Donelson Friday night.

Officers said the collision happened at the corner of Donelson Pike and Royal Parkway at about 9 p.m.

Witnesses told officers the vehicle was a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, but they did not get a good look at the driver.

The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Larry W. Stacey. Police said Stacey, a Donelson resident, was not using the crosswalk that was located about 50 yards from the point of impact.

The SUV fled north on Donelson Pike.
