Police said Jason Thom shot and killed his wife, Ariana Thom, Friday afternoon.

Ariana Thom was an Army soldier currently stationed at Fort Campbell in the 101st Airborne division. According to police, Jason Thom was a former U.S. Army soldier.

The shooting occurred at a house on Gail Street Friday afternoon.

Oak Grove police said 911 received a call at about 2 p.m. from Thom who said he had shot and killed his wife and was going to wait in a back room of the home until an ambulance could arrive. At some point, Thom shot himself.

Police said the couple's two sons, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old, were home at the time. They are now with relatives.

Police said the couple had a history of domestic violence and were having financial problems.

Oak Grove Police said Jason and Ariana Thom are from New Jersey. However, a spokesperson from Fort Campbell said the deceased soldier's home of record is Killeen, Texas, which is home to Fort Hood.

It is unknown whether Ariana Thom or Jason Thom were ever stationed at Fort Hood.
