NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police said Thursday they received a tip that will help them charge a homeless man connected to a stabbing that occurred Oct. 27 outside a west Nashville Target store.Convicted robber Timothy Kelly, Jr., 23, was identified as the man who stabbed Barbara Futter, 46, and robbed her of her purse outside the Target located on White Bridge Road.Police said Kelly was already in custody in connection with a robbery that occurred Saturday on Thompson Lane. Kelly is charged with aggravated robbery in that case.He also faces charges for stealing a woman's purse Oct. 25 in the parking lot of the Charlotte Pike Walmart.Kelly is being held on $100,000 bond.A warrant charging Kelly with aggravated robbery has been issued in the Target case, police said.Kelly was convicted in July 2008 of robbing an 84-year-old man outside the victim's 31st Avenue North residence. He was released on probation in January 2008 after serving one year. He violated his probation six months later with a domestic assault and was returned to jail. Kelly was released in April 2009.In 2002, at age 16, police said Kelly was convicted of aggravated assault in Bledsoe County. He served four years at the now-closed Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex in east Tennessee.
