CARTHAGE, Tenn. -- Boulders as big as pickup trucks slid down a bluff onto a Mexican restaurant on Dixon Springs Highway in Carthage on Saturday, damaging both the inside and outside of the El Rey eatery.
Carthage's fire chief said he's never seen anything quite like it in the 30 years he's worked with the fire department.Jimmy Joe Hackett, the building's owner, said it's likely recent heavy rains over the past week and on Friday night caused the rock slide.Hackett said he's glad no one was inside at the time and that he hopes to get the place cleaned up soon. He hasn't estimated how much the cleanup will cost.
