Judge May Force State To Provide Voting Paper Trail

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Davidson County judge may force the state to buy new voting machines that would provide a paper trail in the event of allegations of voter fraud.

He feels the integrity of the election process is at stake."We need to make sure the will of the people is properly carried out," said Stranch.On behalf of the taxpayer group, Common Cause, Stranch filed the injunction hoping that a judge will order the state to buy the new machines.An attempt to delay the use of paper ballots until 2012 failed to pass the Legislature earlier this year. The group hopes the new machines will be used by May.
