The fires occurred between 1 and 7 a.m. at the Lexington Garden Apartments.

Officials said a family living at the apartments called to report a fire in the complex's laundry room early Monday morning. When crews arrived just after 1 a.m., the family told them a fire had also broken out in their closet, which is located a floor above the laundry room.

Fire officials said the apartment where the fire started was completely destroyed, along with the unit above it. Officials believe both of the blazes were set intentionally.

The man who lived at the apartment where the fire started was arrested in connection with at least one of the fires, but several neighbors said a 12-year-old boy who lived there could be responsible. The boy was questioned but not arrested.

No residents were hurt, but a dog died in one of the fires.
