WAVERLY, Tenn. -- Authorities in Humphreys County have evacuated residents as they deal with a propane leak at a Waverly business.Residents living within a two-mile radius of Lindsey Propane, which is located near Highway 70 on East Railroad Street, were told to leave the area at about 9:30 a.m.Local officials said this situation affects about 40 homes. Power has also been cut in the area.Crews will spend the next several hours transferring propane out of a tank that ruptured overnight to a new tank.Highway 70 is also shut down from Waverly to Gorman until the transfer is over.Officials hoped the evacuations could end by 1 p.m.Car traffic was expected to be routed around the site for several hours, until about noon Tuesday locally, but truck traffic was being moved to Interstate 40 between Route 48 in Dickson and Route 13 in Waverly -- a distance of about 20 miles.
