Officer Investigated After Kazemi Traffic Stops

Steve McNair's Girlfriend Cited 3 Times For Speeding Before DUI Arrest

Metro police are investigating the officer who pulled over Steve McNair's girlfriend two days before she and the ex-NFL quarterback were found shot to death.

Officer Shawn Taylor pulled over Sahel Kazemi on suspicion of drunken driving early in the morning on July 2. McNair was a passenger in the car when it was stopped.

During the traffic stop, Taylor called a fellow officer in the area to come see what was happening. The tone of that four-minute phone call and what Taylor said to the other officer on the line is now being investigated by police.

During the stop, Kazemi tried to walk a straight line and refused a breathalyzer, causing Taylor to charge her with driving under the influence.

At the time of the stop, Taylor admitted that Kazemi looked familiar -- that's because on June 4 at about 1:30 a.m., he pulled her over at the corner of 8th Avenue and Broadway.

Taylor cited her in the June 4 incident for going 48 in a 30 mph zone, playing loud music and not having proof of insurance.

Another ticket proves she was pulled over again on the same day by another officer at Interstate 40 and Donelson Pike. That ticket indicated she was going 85 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Kazemi's driving incidents don't stop there.

Police records also indicate that on May 14 at 2:35 a.m., Kazemi was caught speeding on Bell Road in Antioch while driving her black Cadillac Escalade.

There is no video of the June 4 stop because police said there was an issue with the hardware on Taylor's camera. The other two stops made by police before July 2 were made by vehicles not equipped with cameras.

The investigation into the July 2 stop and the phone call made by Taylor could take a few weeks.

Taylor is still working as an officer while the investigation is taking place.
