Robert Gaddy Will Be 'Haunted' By Sight

It was hard for Robert Gaddy to hold back emotion as he talked about his best friend, Steve McNair. The two first met in 1991 at Alcorn State University.

"(McNair was) just a generally good-hearted person," said Gaddy. "He's going to be very missed."

Gaddy said another friend, Wayne Neeley, called him after going into the condo were McNair and his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, were, unaware anything was wrong. Neeley even walked past McNair and Kazemi. It wasn't until he came out of the kitchen that he saw blood.

"He was in a pretty much panic state," Gaddy said of Neeley.

Gaddy rushed from Hendersonville to the condo, and he said the sight he saw will remain with him forever.

"When I walked into the room, that's a vision that I will be haunted with for the rest of my life," he said.

Forty-four minutes had past from the time Neeley made the discovery until police were called. But Gaddy said he called police shortly after he saw that gruesome sight.

"Nobody knows how they would have reacted in that situation," said Gaddy.

Gaddy said he also wants to set the record straight, that McNair loved his wife and children.

And as far as the McNairs selling their Green Hills home, Gaddy said they wanted something smaller outside of the city.

"All the speculation about him, he was going to sell the house and file for a divorce, that's all speculation and is not true," said Gaddy.

Gaddy would not say if he knew about the relationship between McNair and Kazemi.

"I'm sorry for her family, as well," he said. "There is not much really to be said about it. There is another individual that is no longer on this earth."

Gaddy hopes all the good that McNair has done will not be forgotten.

"Everything that's done in the dark will come to the light," said Gaddy. "I don't feel like this light needs to be so bright that it shadows out the legacy of Steve 'Air' McNair."

Gaddy said McNair's death hits close to home, as Gaddy's father was murdered when he was a child.
