Police Say Man Admitted To Setting Victim On Fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Metro police have arrested a man on charges of killing another man at the Ameri-Kare halfway house in west Nashville. A 54-year-old man was found burned in a bed by the house manager inside the house at 32nd Avenue North at 1:30 a.m. Friday. Police said that Mario Brown admitted to setting the victim on fire in his bed but that he didn't say why he did it.Brown was convicted of attempted murder in 1994."It appears that he's been burnt inside the residence," said Metro Police Capt. David Imhof of the victim.Earlier Friday, crime scene investigators had dusted gas cans found in the home for fingerprints."It's a halfway house. There are some residents that stay here for various reasons. What role it has in it, at this point, we don't know," said Imhof.There wasn't any damage done to the home -- just the back bedroom where the victim was found.The group home assists people with certain health and personal issues.
