McMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- A man who was supposed to uphold the law is now accused of a violent crime.Bobby Joe Rutledge, a public safety officer in McMinnville, was arrested this week on attempted murder charges in Jackson.Rutledge allegedly shot his daughter's boyfriend during a dispute. The man was hit twice but survived.McMinnville's public safety officers are volunteers, helping with duties like traffic control and greenway patrol.Rutledge won't be allowed to perform those duties until the investigation is complete.
