Storms Hit Southwest Middle Tenn.

Heavy Rain, Hail Reported In Wayne, Lawrence Counties

Severe storms hit areas of southwest middle Tennessee on Monday evening, including the counties of Wayne, Lawrence and Decatur.

In Wayne County, there were reports of trees and power lines down.

Lawrence County EMA Director Bill Phillips said they were no reports of a tornado in the county, but strong winds and hail had occurred. Trees were also down west of Lawrenceburg.

Winds gusts were clocked at 70 mph and torrential downpours were occurring in areas of southwest Middle Tennessee. At 5:50 p.m. along the Wayne-Lawrence County border, rain was falling at a rate of 4 inches an hour.

No injuries were reported.
