LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -- A child who fell into a pond in Lawrence County last week has died from his injuries.

Local and state investigators are trying to figure out whether his death could have been prevented.

Police tell Channel 4's news partners at WLX radio that the 21-month-old was outside playing near a swing set on Friday. The boy was later found in a pond.

Paramedics took him to Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg and later flew him to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.
