NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A house fire in the Forest Hills area of Nashville on Thursday morning evacuated a family of four.

The fire occurred at a home on Kenwood Drive at about 10:30 a.m. Crews said the fire started in the carport of the home and spread to other parts of the house."After we were all outside, my younger sister went back in to grab out bigger black dog. Everybody says they heard a 'boom' on the left side of the house about 10 minutes before the fire department got here. When I got out, the entire right side of the house above the carport was smoking," said fire victim Joshua White.The family escaped with no injuries, but two of the family's pet parrots were killed in the blaze.
