A firefighter was hurt on the job in Bordeaux early Thursday morning.

Officials said the firefighter's leg slipped through a hole in the floor while inside an abandoned home that was on fire along Manchester Avenue.

Flames then got inside the firefighter's pants leg and caused second-degree burns on his calf.

He was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

Because the home was empty when it caught on fire at about 3 a.m., the fire marshal is investigating.
