NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A mobile karaoke business owner was shot and killed Thursday night in front of customers at a crowded south Nashville bar.
The incident happened at about 10:40 p.m. at Jonny's Sports Bar on Nolensville Road near Old Hickory Boulevard.Police said a customer at the bar, Hank Calvin Wise, 43, of Hendersonville, had been harassing DJ Benjamin Goeser, 48, of Antioch, and his wife over the past few months.According to police, when Wise showed up at Jonny's on Thursday night, Goeser's wife told the manager that Wise's presence made her uncomfortable. The manager then asked Wise to leave the bar. Wise then allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot Goeser inside the bar. There were about 50 people inside the business when the shooting occurred.Three people quickly wrestled the gun away from Wise and held him until police arrived. Wise was arrested and faces murder charges, said police.Police have learned that Wise had been sending inappropriate Internet messages to Goeser's wife. Wise had been asked by Goeser to stop sending the messages before Thursday night's shooting.Wise's bond was set at $1 million.
