NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police said a woman is dead after her boyfriend shot her and then shot himself in an attempted murder-suicide.

Officers said Brandon Watson, 20, shot and killed his girlfriend, 19-year-old Audra McCullough, before shooting himself in the head at 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

Watson is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Witnesses said the couple was arguing inside their home on Gwen Drive before the violence broke out.

Witnesses reported that Watson had been drinking.
