Police Believe William Grothe Faked Death

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Nashville attorney who has been missing since November admitted himself Wednesday night to a medical facility in Arizona for a psychological evaluation.On Nov. 19, William Grothe, 62, told a co-worker he was going for a noontime walk in Shelby Park in Nashville. However, the attorney never returned to work and his wedding band, credit card and driver's license were later found in a plastic bag.No one, including his family, has had contact with Grothe since the incident. His locked silver Honda Civic was found a short distance away at the Shelby Park boat ramp in east Nashville.Police investigated the incident as a possible homicide.However, Metro police discovered in early January that Grothe checked into a hotel in Missoula, Mont., by using his wife's maiden name.No charges have been filed against Grothe, but police said that could change soon.
