Dogs' Owner Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Fourteen pit bulls left without food or water have been seized and taken to the Cookeville-Putnam County Animal Shelter.According to the Herald Citizen, the owner was arrested on charges of animal cruelty.Stephine Schweitzer will have to go to court next week on the misdemeanor charge.Witnesses said the animals hadn't been fed or given water for two weeks.Animal Control confirmed the dogs were very thin and were covered in their own waste.The animals are not available to be adopted at this time because they're part of an ongoing investigation.
