Neighbors in this part of Madison said they have been overrun by burglaries lately. Antonio Viegas said he is just happy that he is alive to talk about it.

Antonio Viegas was sound asleep when he heard his wife scream. She was out warming up her truck for work.

The next thing Viegas knew, three teenagers were in the bedroom, throwing the couple to the ground. During the struggle, one of the robbers' guns went off, Viegas said.

At that point, Viegas stopped struggling and thought of his son Chris, just 15 feet away in his crib.

"I'm just thinking of my baby," Viegas said. "That's it. That's all I care about."

The three teenagers kept demanding cash. When Viegas told them his money was in the bank, they pistol-whipped him, he said.

The teens disappeared into the kitchen, where Viegas said they heated barbecue tongs and burned him repeatedly on the neck.

Convinced Viegas wasn't lying about the bank, the teens took his shoes and his baseball cap collection and fled.

"I seen this on TV going on and never expect that it would happen. But you wake up one day and you got guys (coming) into your house," he said.

Viegas said his mind went blank, and he felt no pain. As he was calling 911, he felt around for a bullet wound, as he thought he had been shot.

Police said Viegas described two very tall, skinny, black teenagers dressed head to toe in black and a very short 5 foot 5 inch Caucasian teenager in a Tennessee Titans hooded sweatshirt.

Because of the torture, police consider these teenagers extremely dangerous.
