NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police in Nashville and Franklin continue to look for clues in the sudden disappearance of a Music Row attorney.
Dive teams searched the Cumberland River Nov. 21 near Shelby Park for any clues as to what may have happened to 62-year-old William Grothe.Grothe has not been seen since the afternoon of Nov. 19, police said. He was last seen wearing a tan leather jacket, dark pants and a dress shirt.
The missing attorney does licensing work for the musician royalty organization SESAC. On Nov. 19, he told a co-worker he was going for a noontime walk in Shelby Park.Late that afternoon, Grothe's wedding band, credit card and driver's license were found in a plastic bag in the yard of a home in the 400 block of South Fifth Street. His locked vehicle was found a short distance away at the Shelby Park boat ramp in east Nashville. The Nashville City Paper reported Tuesday that authorities have also found his wallet, hat and jacket along the riverbank.Grothe's stepson, Mathew Pauley, said Grothe was looking forward to Thanksgiving, his wife's upcoming birthday and a family wedding, which is why his disappearance is so odd.The public is urged to call police in Nashville or Franklin if they can help in the investigation.
