State prisons have been on alert since last month when guards discovered guns being smuggled inside, and they have now made an arrest.

Investigators said Tiara Monique Ward, 27, tried to smuggle loaded guns into a state prison at Wartburg. They said she mailed the weapons inside a box filled with board games and books.

Ward's bond was reduced from $100,000 to $25,000 at a Thursday hearing where a public defender was appointed to represent her.

Department of Correction spokeswoman Dorinda Carter said there is someone Ward "had a relationship with" at the prison.

A Department of Correction news release said investigators discovered the two weapons in a package delivered to the Morgan County Correctional Complex on Sept. 17.

Investigators said more arrests could be made.
