Much-Needed Rain Falling In Tenn.
Thunderstorms, Showers Expected In Middle Tenn.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rain spread across western and central locations in Tennessee on Tuesday morning, headed east.
Video: Tuesday Afternoon Weather Forecast (10/7/08) Channel 4 Pinpoint weather meteorologist Tim Ross said the Nashville area could expect rains showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day. However, Ross did not anticipate any severe weather.National Weather service forecaster Bobby Boyd in Nashville said the Smoky Mountains were likely to pick up about two inches of badly needed moisture on Wednesday.
A surface low centered in Missouri on Tuesday morning was propelling moisture into Tennessee. Boyd said most locations in the state would probably get around 1/2 inch of rain with up to an inch possible.The last substantial rain in Nashville had been .84 inches on Sept. 5 and East Tennessee has drought conditions characterized as exceptional by the Weather Service.
