NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The latest edition of "Gospel Today” is being pulled from the shelves of Lifeway Christian stores because of the women on the cover.

VideoThe Southern Baptist convention that owns the Nashville-based chain has ordered its removal because it featured pastors on the front who were all female.Some Southern Baptist leaders believe women shouldn't be allowed to be ordained, and Lifeway said it does not believe that women should be the head of a church.
That said, each church is independent, and some have allowed women to lead their congregations.There are more than 150 Lifeway Christian bookstores in the U.S. and six in Nashville. Lifeway said the magazine is still available behind the counter at the bookstores, if customers request it.
