The incident happened at a recycling center located at 139 Industrial Blvd. in LaVergne.

Shortly after 9 a.m., workers inside the Sims Recycling Solutions plant reported smelling a strong odor.

When the two workers began having upper-respiratory problems, everyone inside the building was evacuated.

Fire officials said the odor may have come from a solvent used in the maintenance from a tow motor.

"Our air quality readings that we’ve taken inside the facility have shown them to be within normal limits. It doesn’t seem to be any hazardous condition inside the building at this time," said LaVergne Assistant Fire Chief Richard McCormick.

Hazmat crews took sample reading outside the building to ensure the safety of the air.

There are several other businesses inside the building in which the recycling center is located, none of the those was evacuated because concrete walls separate each building, officials said.

Firefighters and Hazmat crews had left the scene just after noon. Workers had also returned to the building.
