NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Out-of-town tourists from Texas on board a trolley Sunday were taken on a ride they did not expect.
Video: Homeless Man Accused Of Hijacking TrolleyA homeless man got onto the bus at about 3:30 p.m. and sat down in the driver's seat, started engine and drove away.The tourists, who were waiting for a 4 p.m. tour, said they thought it was odd, but they didn't say anything until they weren't getting the guided tour for which they had paid.After the tourists questioned the man, they said he started to swerve. They said he hadn't closed the trolley door properly, and the man drove the trolley into light poles, breaking the door.The tourists said they demanded get off the trolley. They said the man told them that everything was fine and wouldn't let them off, but they said he eventually did let them off four miles later.The trolley continued for several more miles and eventually rear-ended a sport utility vehicle, stopping the trolley. The passengers in the SUV are OK, officials said.They said the man got out of the trolley and asked if they were OK.Police were able to apprehend the man and said that he was drunk.They also said they think that this may not be the first time he has hijacked a trolley.
