NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Sounds baseball club missed a July 1 deadline to extend their lease at Greer stadium, putting the team's existence in Nashville in jeopardy. The team's lease ends on Dec. 31 of this year, but the city finance director told The Tennessean newspaper that the team could still extend it.However, the Sounds must first show the city how they plan to make the stadium more handicapped-accessible.There's been a lot of speculation that the Sounds would leave Nashville.
Plans to build a new downtown stadium have fallen through in the past few years, leaving the team's future unclear. The team has not made a comment regarding the lease issue.
