The family of a Nolensville teenager who was shot and killed last month announced on Wednesday that they are offering a $10,000 reward in the case.

Leif Brittain's family said the reward will go to anyone who can give police information leading to an arrest in connection with Leif's death.

Brittain, 18, was shot to death at a car wash in south Nashville on the night of June 20 while he washed mud off his truck.

The reward is in addition to $1,000 being offered by CrimeStoppers.

Police said they have only received a few tips so far, but hope the increased reward will inspire more people to call in.

The motive behind Brittain’s shooting may have been robbery, police said, but family and friends are making sure the killers don't get away with the crime.

"He'd always bring a smile to everybody's faces," said Brittain's father, Greg Brittain.

Detectives said they hope that the community near the car wash will help them with answers.

"Leif of course lived in Nolensville and there's a strong community out there for him," said Greg Brittain.

Police are passing out fliers letting people know about the crime and the reward and the number of tips is rising.

"This morning things have started coming in pretty quick," Metro Detective Brad Corcoran said.

A couple of weeks ago, police combed over woods near the car wash and only found a few inconsequential items, but the search for clues continues.

"When my son's death becomes old news, I know I will still be trudging forward to solve this case," Greg Brittain said.

Leif Brittain’s family said they wanted all those close to their loved one to stay connected, so they created a memorial Web site.

"My feeling is that everybody has good in them, no matter how bad they are, and that will come out," Greg Brittain said.

Since many people who live in the area near Nolensville Road and Old Hickory Boulevard speak Spanish, leaders in the Hispanic community are assisting police in their efforts.

Police are also releasing the information to Spanish TV, radio stations and newspapers.

Police want to remind people that tips to CrimeStoppers can be anonymous and can be made by calling 74-CRIME.

Leif Brittain's family is hoping to create a scholarship in his name with the help of donations through the Web site.
