NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police said several concertgoers at a Christian-based venue got an unpleasant surprise after a lead singer exposed himself on stage in front of hundreds of patrons.
Video: Singer Exposes Himself To Crowd, Police SayThe Legendary Shack Shakers played their first show at Rocketown recently, and a representative said it will definitely be the band's last."For that to happen on our stage, I think that's atrocious," said Rocketown representative Ben Cissell.
According to an arrest warrant, the band's lead singer, Joshua D. Wilkes, was performing when one of the security guards saw him open up his pants and pull out his genitals.Organizers said a few hundred teens and adults were in the audience."As soon as it happened, I think three of our security staff ran upstairs and said, 'This just happened. We have to call the authorities and get this taken care of,'" said Cissell.Police have issued an arrest warrant but have not taken Wilkes into custody.Rocketown is a Christian-based organization that tries to provide a safe place for teens by staging activities and concerts. A site representative said the incident is the exact opposite of the values for which what they stand.Rocketown said the Shack Shakers are based out of Nashville and that they want to make sure the public knows about the incident so that Wilkes faces consequences for his actions."They probably came into Rocketown knowing a little bit about what it was and wanted to buck the system or rebel in some way," said Cissell.Rocketown said it screens the bands that play there to make sure they are appropriate and that they want to ensure the incident doesn't reoccur.Police are still investigating the incident. The band or representatives could not be reached for comment.
