Police said the victims, Josh Baker, 18, Kristie Burton, 17, and Alyssa Tucker, 15, became stuck in a mud hole after they were off-roading.

Channel 4's Chris Tatum reported that a friend who had been contacted by one of the teens found their bodies in the sport utility vehicle.

Police said the SUV became stuck and the muffler was underwater, causing the exhaust to backup into the Jeep Cherokee.

An investigator said the water was 2 and half to 3 feet deep, and the jeep had one window down and another cracked.

Baker and Burton were engaged and looking forward to their wedding, said Tucker's boyfriend, Jacob Hockstedler.

"He loved life. He and Kristie were planning on getting married. He was going into the military, and after he got out of the military, he was going to get married," said Baker's stepmother.

The dirt road where the incident occurred has been closed off by authorities.

Officers said anyone who is planning to go off-roading should be very careful if they become stuck. Drivers are advised to shut off their motor and get out of the vehicle to avoid inhaling carbon monoxide.

Services for Christie Burton will be at the Lynchburg funeral home, with visitation Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Visitation for Joshua Baker will be held at the Tullahoma funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Alyssa Tucker's services will be at the Daves-Culbertson funeral home in Tullahoma. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., and the funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m.
