Peterbilt Manager Says Workers Told Not To Come In

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Hundreds of auto workers in Davidson County showed up at work on Monday to find they'd been locked out.The manager for Peterbilt Motors said the workers were told not to come to work because their labor union failed to approve a contract in time.The UAW has been in negotiations with Peterbilt for six weeks, and their contract expired at midnight on Friday.This is the second time in the past several years the union and Peterbilt have not reached an agreement.In 2002, the company locked its employees out for 10 months for failing to agree on a contract.Peterbilt and the UAW met on Monday morning, but the sides did not come to an agreement.Peterbilt employs about 300 full-time workers.
