NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After 33 years, an arrest was made Friday in a cold case involving the death of Marcia Trimble, a 9-year-old Nashville Girl Scout.
Video: Trimble's Mother Expects Truth From Slaying SuspectThe girl's mother, Virginia Trimble Ritter, is currently living out of state but shared her thoughts on what the arrest means after so many years have past.Sitting in her new Adairsville, Ky., home, Trimble said she thought all weekend about the arrest of the man suspected of killing her daughter, Jerome Barrett."Just yesterday I couldn't believe it. Is this all real? (It's important) so that we can just say we have justice for Marcia," said Ritter. She has all the same questions that many people in the public are asking. If he killed the child, how and why did he do it?"I just recently felt a bond because I pray for him all the time. I want to know what's in his soul because he's a grown man. He's not 26, not 28. He's almost my age, and I expect him to stand up to his responsibilities and tell me the truth about what happened to Marcia and why his DNA is on her," said Ritter. "I think when the trial comes, I will be ready. I'm not ready today."
